Well the media kind of controls public opinion so if they raise alot of doubts about God fewer people will say they believe and vice versa more will believe if the media pushes religion.

Disfellowshipping for Gluttony?
by Smoky inis that possible?..have there been any cases like this?.
my family have been on my case about me hanging around with people (non-jw family) that like to drink alot.
they went as far as to call me "a drunk"...now i do admit that i have been gotten drunk before on occasion, but i am not a drunk or an alcoholic.. so, i told my mother (obese) that if i were "a drunk" for getting drunk from time to time (not every day), then can she be considered "a glutton", for eating to much, obese, having health problems, all because of the way she eats?

JW takes it up the keester
by moshe ini was able to find another group of jw's doing the big tract this morning.
i found it hard to get the 50'ish something lady to stop and talk to me, she was in such a hurry to get her 50 tracts done for the day.
no bookbag, no bible- just a vinyl folder with tracts.

Do you find yourself spending too much time on this site?
by restrangled ini continually check for new posts, and enjoy the fluff as much as the serious stuff.
there are so many different personalities and it so interesting to see any ones "take" on a subject.
the intellect, humor, or just honest responses and real life experiences fascinate me.

Thanksgiving just around the corner

even loyal jw's actually do, even though they are careful to tell anyone seeing that big turkey with all the fixins, "we aren't really celebrating thanksgiving, but everyone could get together today".
that is what i remember saying.

We always celebrated it with turkey at JW relatives, now that I am out and can no longer talk to them thanks to Jehovah's loving organiztion I miss celebrating Thanksgiving.

Well Christians and Moslems and Jews are killing each other today so whats new, it's not past history with religious people killing each other it's going on in Iraq as we speak. If Christian really wanted to make ammends they would stop going to war and tell their children to stop going to war right now, today, in our time.
Killing Moslems in the middle East is not "beating your swords into plowshears and your spears into pruning hooks."

RADICAL ELDERS WHO BROKE THE RULES - we salute you
by dannygwalsh inthought id inject a bit of light hearted humor , any stories of elders who were unorthodox in a witness way , .
there was one elder in the hall i used to attend called ronnie [edit] , who i still like and admire as a person to this day , he was always very outspoken when he didnt agree with the society on there policy and doctrines and was pra, ctically opposed to bethel service , i remember him giving a talk on applying for bethel service in the km many years ago , and at the end of the talk he said joking with a wry smile , i dont know why any of the brothers would want to do that , sounds like slave labour to me, also whe he was conducting the revelation book study , when it talked about the seven plagues of god being fulfilled in a wt convention in ohio in 1919 , he turned round and said , i dont know where the society get all this from , ... .
he also had a very distinctive voice spoken thru pursed lips in a rasp like voice saying thats just stupid , whenever he didnt agree with the society and other elders , a great man in spite of his beliefs , he was one of the elders on my jc who srongly opposed my disfellowshipping , but he was overuled- .

There were elders in the other congregtation in the hall we went to that said don't go to Bethel, pretty much everything was tolerated by those guys except missing their Saturday afternoon touch football game. How I envied that congregation, we had Dudly Dooright the violin playing perfectionist for our CO, he made sure we stuck to every dang witness rule no matter how idiotic. He hounded me when I went to college and I heard years later that all his kids got disfellowshipped after I had left.

grampa was a congregation servant and then elder, my dad was an elder for years.
i made it up the ranks fast, you were not anybody if you did not become an elder, i was appointed at an early age.

Welcome skyking, I liked a t.v. show from the fifities by that title when I was a kid. My entire family is out except one brother, and the large sucking noise you hear is all of them shunning me. But how do you stay in that organization once you have seen that the little man behind the curtain pulling the Wizard of the Watchtowers strings is a fraud? Chemical weapons being used ... how about it America?
by Simon inof course, as it's the murdering, war-crime-committing, un-mandate-ignoring, nuclear-non-proliferation-flouting israeli friends of america, they probably won't see it as an issue at all.. funny that ... they were dead keen on going to war over just the hint of this very thing but probably won't even condemn it.. it's about time that sanctions were imposed on israel.

If people would just tell their children not to go to war their would be no wars, no police states, no civilian atrocities. The power elite and the large corporations manipulate the masses to slaughter one another like cattle. People all over the world should just say no to war. The idea of us versus them is a creation of the power elite to keep us all devided and conquored, while they make billions on war.
